Thousands of DC area residents drive by Bethesda Country Club every day and don't even know it: although not visible from the highway, this private club is just a few feet off the Beltway at the point where it intersects I-270. BCC opened in 1951 but the site was home to other clubs that operated on the site as early as 1913. 13 acres were lost when the interstate highways were built in 1961. Arthur Hills supervised a complete renovation in 1992 and Bethesda Country Club hosted the Mazda LPGA tournament in the 1990's.
