The Woodlands is the newer (opened in 1998) of two county-owned courses located just outside the Baltimore Beltway on the west side of town.

The Woodlands is one of the five courses owned and operated by Baltimore County Golf. One of the others is right next door: Diamond Ridge. The course is a par 72 layout that stretches barely beyond the magical 7,000 yard level from the back tees. Four other tees (and a combo tee) play from 4,762 to 6,551 yards. Woodlands and Diamond Ridge share a clubhouse, driving range and practice areas.

Public Golf in Southwest Baltimore County

Woodlands is in the northwest quadrant of the intersection of I-70 and I-695 (the Baltimore Beltway). Immediately east of the course are hundreds of apartments and townhomes, to the west is hundreds of acres of trees. The course's most famous neighbor is the headquarters of the US Social Security Administration, about three miles from the course.
