Laurel Hill Golf Club is a county-owned public course located on the former site of the DC Correctional Facility (also known as a prison). The course is a couple miles west of I-95.

Former Prison Became Popular Public Golf Course

Laurel Hill Golf Club opened in 2005 on the site of the old Lorton prison. It's owned and operated by the Fairfax County Park Authority. The Bill Love design takes advantage of a great bit of land for a golf course, with lots of trees, some water and rolling terrain. The course is open for public play with annual memberships available that make playing a bit more affordable for regular visitors.

Public Golf Course About 7 Miles Outside the DC Beltway

Laurel Hill Golf Club is located about two miles west of the Lorton Road exit off I-95 and seven miles south of the I-95/DC Beltway interchange. Thanks to the closing of the DC prison on the site, Fairfax County golfers were lucky to have a spot so close to the heart of northern Virginia where a new course could be built as late as 2005.
