It's one of the most interesting locations for a golf resort you'll find anywhere: The historic area of Colonial Williamsburg is adjacent to the Golden Horseshoe Golf Club. The Gold Course opened in 1963 from a design by Robert Trent Jones Sr., who called it his "finest design". It's been called one of the best examples of traditional golf course architecture in the world. Jones' son Rees is responsible for the design of the Green Course and the 9-hole layout known as The Shoe. In addition to "stay and play" packages for visitors, memberships in the club are also available.
