The first public course built in the Frederick area, Clustered Spires Golf Course is two miles northeast of downtown Frederick.

Frederick's Original Public Golf Course

Clustered Spires Golf Course opened in 1991 and occupies 185 acres on the site of a former dairy farm, the first public course in Frederick County. The facility includes an 18-hole golf course (almost 7,000 yards from the tips), a driving range, two practice greens and a practice bunker. An active golf association sponsors a series of tournaments every year. Green fee discounts are available to members of the military, juniors, seniors and Frederick city residents.

Riverside Golf in Frederick, Maryland

The Ault-Clark designed course is located on the northeast side of Frederick, less than three miles from the Monocacy Boulevard exit off I-70. The course was built in a big bend on the north side of the Monocacy River. This side of the river is primarily a light industrial area, although a small group of homes have been built on the northeast corner of the course.
