Cumberland Country Club

The golf course at Cumberland Country Club dates all the way back to 1919. This private club is located in the hills just north of Cumberland - for you city folks back east, that's about 130 miles west of downtown Baltimore.

The primary challenge when playing the course at Cumberland Country Club are the trees, which line both side of most holes. And you'll also have to cross Evitts Creek a couple of times. The scorecard lists four sets of tees plus two combinations with playing lengths from 5,135 to 6,182 yards. A set of Orange tees let you play every hole as a par 3 for a total length of 2,607 yards.

Cumberland CC offers eight levels of membership ranging from all-inclusive access to the golf course to non-golf social memberships. A limited number of tee times are available to the public, call the pro shop for details.

Mountains and Rivers in Western Maryland

Cumberland Country Club is about a 3 mile drive northeast of the historic center of Cumberland. The town is on a bend in the Potomac River where it reaches toward, but doesn't quite make it to Pennsylvania. Maryland is only about five miles wide, north-south, at this point.

Interstate highway 68 and US Route 40 pass through the nearby gaps in the Allegheny Mountains. I-68 is a 113 mile long highway that connects I-70 (at Hancock, Maryland) with I-79 near Morgantown, West Virginia. The club is a 4-minute drive from the Route 639 exit off I-68.
